Founded in 1930, China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CNHTC"), whose predecessor was Jinan Auto Works, is the cradle of China’s heavy truck industry. In 1960，the 8-ton truck Huanghe JN150– Chinese first heavy truck was produced and ended the history that China could not produce heavy trucks by itself. On May 4th, 1960, Chairman Mao Zedong visited the sample truck and gave it high praise when he inspected Jinan. On January 11th, 1966, Chairman Zhu De inscribed two Chinese characters "Huang he" for the truck in person. In the early stages of socialist construction, the "Huanghe" truck enjoyed a nationwide reputation, making significant contributions to national economic development and defense construction, becoming one of the landmark achievements of the Chinese nations self-reliance and hard struggle. In 1983, under the care of Comrade Deng Xiaoping, the Austrian Steyr Heavy Vehicle Project was successfully introduced, making CNHTC the first enterprise in China comprehensively introduce foreign heavy vehicle manufacturing technology. "Steyr" once became a synonym for heavy trucks in China. In 2007, CNHTC was successfully listed on Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
CNHTC is mainly engaged in the research, development, production, and sales of various types of trucks, large and medium-sized buses, special purpose vehicles, special vehicles, etc. The Company owns a full range of commercial vehicle brands such as Huanghe, SITRAK and HOWO, Zhongtong Bus and is the most comprehensive heavy truck enterprise in Chinas heavy truck industry in terms of driving forms and power coverage. CNHTC has three listed companies, namely, Sinotruk (Hong Kong) Limited (a red-chip listed company of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange), Sinotruk Jinan Truck Co., Ltd. (listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange), and Zhongtong Bus Holding Co., Ltd. (listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange). The products of CNHTC have been exported to over 110 countries and regions, accounting for over half of the China’s heavy truck export market. In 2020, the new generation of high-end national brand "Huanghe" heavy trucks was launched globally, leading Chinas heavy trucks to become world-class.
With the corporate vision of "Build a world-class group of full series of commercial vehicles", CNHTC has accelerated the pace of independent innovation, continued to increase investment in research and development, introduced high-end technical talents, created an entrepreneurial ecosystem, and created high-end national independent brands. CNHTC has the first batch of National Enterprise Technology Center, National Heavy Vehicle Engineering Technology Research Center, and National Heavy Vehicle Quality Inspection and Testing Center in China and its R&D, testing and manufacturing capabilities have reached the worlds advanced level. CNHTC has been awarded honorary titles such as "Chinas Outstanding Innovative Enterprise" and "Chinas Quality Integrity Enterprise". The project "Key Technologies and Industrialization of Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Automatic Transmission Hybrid Power System Assemblies" has won the second prize in the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
In 2022, the heavy truck sales of CNHTC ranked first in China, and the export of heavy truck products accounted for half of Chinas industry exports, ranking 158th among the "Top 500 Chinese Enterprises", 69th in the "Top 500 Chinese Manufacturing Enterprises", and 60th in the "Top 100 Most Valuable Chinese Brands".
